About Me

Hossein Maroufi was born and raised in Mashhad, Iran, and earned a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Yazd University. He moved to Milan, Italy, in 2005 to pursue his post-graduate study in Urban Planning and Policy Design at Politecnico di Milano. He obtained a Doctoral degree in Spatial Planning and Urban Development from the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano and spent a year (2010-2011) at the School of Community and Regional Planning of the University of British Columbia as a Visiting PhD Student. He has collaborated in teaching urban planning laboratories at Politecnico di Milano at undergraduate and Master of Science level from 2012 to 2013. Since 2013 he has been appointed assistant professor of urban planning at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. His teaching area includes urban history, urban geography, urban resiliency, and conservation and regeneration of historical urban fabric. His research is focused on urban history, urban regeneration,
